Job Title: Structural Engineer (Senior / Principal / Associate Level)

Location: Newport based office + working from home

Job Type: Full Time

Education: Bachelor's / Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering

Salary: Circa £50k per annum depending on the level of experience + benefits

Bear Structures is a modern, innovative civil & structural engineering consultancy and we are looking for an experienced Senior / Principal / Associate Level Structural Engineer to join our team.

The ideal candidate will already be working in a similar role and can expect to assist with:

 

  • Delivery of concept design though to detailed design (including full tender and construction packages) project documentation, design calculations and sketches.

  • Attending client, design and site meetings.

  • Undertaking structural / site surveys and following up with structural reports.

  • Liaising with statutory authorities, Architects, M&E consultants and contractors.

 

We are looking for someone with the following attributes:

 

  • A minimum of 5 years engineering experience and is qualified with a BEng/MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering and Chartered or working towards Chartered Membership of the IStructE or ICE. (Minimum of 8 years required for Principal / Associate Engineer role)

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, analysis and technical design skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with an ability to apply practical thinking.

  • Ability to manage projects and delegate tasks to Technicians.

  • Excellent knowledge of Engineering Design Principles, competent in steel, reinforced concrete, timber, masonry, & composite construction to British Standards and Eurocodes.

  • Working understanding of the Tekla design suite (or similar) is preferred such as Tedds, Structural Designer, portal frame and connection designer.

  • Ability to produce written reports.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Experience of attending site meetings.

  • Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise a demanding workload.

  • A good working knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office. Some basic IT knowledge will be essential due to the working from home element.

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit will be beneficial but not essential.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Civil Engineering (including drainage and groundworks).
